Pottery Wheel Taster Sessions - 10am-12pm
2-Hour Pottery Experience | Max. 10 Participants | Wiltshire Pottery Studio
Have a go on the potter's wheel and discover the joy of clay
Our 2-hour pottery wheel taster sessions are designed for complete beginners and anyone curious about trying pottery for the first time.
With expert guidance from an experienced potter, you'll be introduced to the fundamentals of wheel throwing and have the opportunity to create your own pots on the wheel. No experience is necessary — just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to get a little muddy.
What Will I Learn?
During your taster session you'll:
Learn the basics of pottery wheel throwing
Be introduced to centring and shaping clay
Create your own pots on the wheel
Experience the process of making with clay
Enjoy a relaxed and supportive studio environment
The emphasis is on having fun, trying something new and enjoying the experience of working with clay on the wheel.

Glazing & Firing
At the end of the session, you'll choose your favourite two pots for us to finish.
We'll carefully dry, fire and glaze it in one of our beautiful stoneware glazes before it receives its final firing and is ready for collection a few weeks later.
Small Groups, Plenty of Support
With a maximum of 10 participants, our taster sessions offer plenty of demonstrations, individual guidance and encouragement.
Whether your pot turns out beautifully symmetrical or wonderfully wonky, you'll leave with a new appreciation for the skill, creativity and patience involved in pottery making.
Accessibility & Health
Wheel throwing requires a reasonable level of mobility. Our electric pottery wheels are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker. If you have any accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the most suitable course for you.
Continue Your Pottery Journey
Many students begin with a taster session before progressing to our Beginner Pottery Wheel Throwing Course, where they can develop confidence and build the foundations of wheel throwing over six weeks.
If you catch the pottery bug, we'd love to welcome you back.
